The walk to the cross is a good one to do if you are on the Beauregard plateau. Although the croix de Colomban is not the highest point in the area (situated just above the Cretes des Fretes) it offers views over the Thones valley below and you can see the different valleys that lead to the villages of the Aravis massif. (Starting point- Pointe de Beauregard, accessible via the cable car: Vertical incline- 320m: Highest point- 1691m)

How to get there: Car park in the centre of La Clusaz, then take the Beauregard cable car. Walking Route: From the top of the Beauregard cable car, go down towards "La Piste Bleue" restaurant and take the track that goes alongside the wooded ridge towards Colomban.

The lower track enables you to pass close to the alpine pasture and then join the route again near the "Matins Clairs" restaurant. A short uphill and then downhill walk will take you to the chalet des Poutassets where you need to turn left to slowly wal back up towards Colomban. The cross can be found to the north west of the little plateau which the chalet de Colomban is on.

You can go back the same way but different options can lead you to either the col de la Criox Fry or the villages of Manigod and Thones. Please be aware that you must take care not to make a mistake in the choice of routes back, especially if you do not have the maps that accompany the walks with you.
